Our organisation’s areas of expertise, particularly in relation to inward investors to the UK and EU

Willkie’s private equity practice in London is one of the market-leading teams and a destination firm for both large-cap and upper middle-market UK and European deals including public takeovers.

The team represents UK,European and US sponsors and their portfolio companies across all areas of private equity and provides a platform that serves all clients’ needs. We are regularly recognized for our strength in the Private Equity space by leading directories Chambers Global, Chambers UK, Chambers Europe, The Legal 500 UK and IFLR1000. Recent representative experience includes advising:

• Platinum Equity on the acquisition of Sunrise Medical a world leader in advanced assistive mobility solutions, from Nordic Capital

• Searchlight Capital Partners as owner of Flowbird in connection with the sale of Flowbird and in connection with re-investment of significant capital into EasyPark Group. EasyPark is a global parking tech company based in Stockholm, and is one of the global leaders in mobile paid parking

• Davidson Kempner on its joint acquisition with Nature Infrastructure Capital of the solar and storage project development platform of Greencells Group

• CapVest Partners in its acquisition of Recochem

• Freshstream on its investment in MCR Group, a rapidly growing outsourced services company based in Ireland

• Levine Leichtman Capital Partners on its investment in Improve International Group, a leader in veterinary postgraduate training and education

• Searchlight Capital Partners in connection with a £500 million preferred equity consortium investment in RSK Group Limited, a leading provider of environmental consulting and engineering solutions

• Acronis AG, a leading cybersecurity and data protection platform for managed service providers, in connection with a sale of a majority stake by various growth investors to the EQT X fund

• FTV Capital on a recommended cash acquisition of AIM - listed Windward Ltd, a leading maritime AI company, to be effected by way of a merger under the Israeli Companies Law

Case study examples of the sort of work that we have successfully carried out for clients

We advised Insight Partners on the sale of its majority stake in AMCS, a global leader in performance and sustainability software to resource-intensive industries, to EQT Private Equity. EQT Private Equity invested from EQT X, its flagship private equity fund, and EQT Future, its impact-driven, longer-hold fund.

This is a representative example of a highly complex growth equity deal that we typically handle - where we advise all the way through the investment cycle from growth investment, follow on financing, and finally on a big cap private equity exit - which plays into our mid-market and upper-mid market private equity strengths, alongside our deep knowledge of the growth space. By aligning with sponsor goals from the very start, we acted as a true strategic partner, anticipating challenges, delivering pragmatic solutions, and ensuring that Insight Partners’ long-term investment strategy was fully realized through a seamless and successful exit.
